Registration is currently open for the first edition of the online course “Risk Management for Tsunami-Related Disasters”, which is being offered through the WFEO Committee on Disaster Risk Management (WFEO-CDRM) platform. The course is completely free and begun on March 6th, 2020 and must be completed by April 10th.
This course is a joint project between WFEO-CDRM and the Peruvian Engineers Association (CIP). It aims to recognize the elements conferring a given tsunami hazard level to a study area or population, considering the regional framework of risk; to learn the modern techniques for quick assessment of damage in affected areas useful for timely response and first aid; and to understand the basis of artificial intelligence using big data to support decisions during the phases of early warning and response.
The course include five modules and is available in English, with translation in Spanish. The curriculum includes learning exercises, links to reference material and a printable certificate of completion can be requested.

- Module 3 – Tsunami Effects on Infrastructure
- Module 4 – Artificial Intelligence and Remote sensing technology for tsunami damage

Inscripción abierta para la primera edición del curso online “Gestión del riesgo de desastres relacionados con tsunamis”, que se ofrece a través de la plataforma del Comité de Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres (WFEO-CDRM). El curso es completamente gratuito, comenzó el 6 de marzo y debe completarse antes el 10 de abril.
Este curso es un proyecto conjunto entre el CDRM de la Federación Mundial de Asociaciones de Ingenieros (WFEO-CDRM) y el Colegio de Ingenieros del Perú (CIP). Su objetivo es reconocer los elementos que confieren un determinado nivel de peligro de tsunami a una zona de estudio o a una población, teniendo en cuenta el marco regional de riesgo; aprender las técnicas modernas para la evaluación rápida de los daños en las zonas afectadas, útiles para la respuesta oportuna y los primeros auxilios; y comprender las bases de la inteligencia artificial utilizando big data para apoyar las decisiones durante las fases de alerta temprana y respuesta.
El curso incluye cinco módulos y está disponible en inglés, con traducción al español. El plan de estudios incluye ejercicios de aprendizaje, enlaces a material de referencia y al finalizar se puede solicitar un certificado imprimible.
