China Engineering Education Accreditation Association hosted the International Engineering Education Symposium 2023 – China Week

The China Engineering Education Accreditation Association (CEEAA) hosted the International Engineering Education Symposium 2023-China Week (IEES 2023-CW) between 13 and 19 November 2023, with the theme of “Unleashing Potential, Empowering Future: Embracing Graduate Attributes and Professional Competencies”.

The Symposium was jointly organized by CEEAA, the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), the Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES), Ningbo Institute of Engineering, Zhejiang University of Technology, and Zhejiang Fashion Institute of Technology. During the China Week, the three universities also organized visits to technical projects.

The main sponsors of the symposium were the International Engineering Alliance (IEA) and the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), with support from the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE) and the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP).

CEEAA was established in October 2015. It is a national social organization authorized by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and composed of 56 institutions, which cover most of the most authoritative and influential engineering organizations in China. It is a national member of China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and a full member of Washington Accord known as CAST-CEEAA.

CEEAA is committed to promoting the implementation of SDGs through certification. In recent years, it has carried out a large amount of SDGs promotion, popularization, and research work, benefiting tens of thousands of engineering teachers from hundreds of universities.

In addition to the main forum, the week included three sub-forums respectively themed as “Engineering and Humanity”, “Engineering Education and Sustainable Development”, and “Implementation of GAPC21 in Engineering Education and Accreditation”.

Speakers at CEEAA included Former WFEO Presidents Prof. Gong Ke and Dr Marlene Kanga AO. From the IEA: Prof. Kai Sang Lock, Chair Washington Accord and Prof Elizabeth Taylor, Chair IEA Governing Group, Prof. José Carlos Quadrado, ENAEE President, and Prof. Wang Shuguo, CEEAA President. There were 42 thematic forum presentations, providing a rich and diverse range of content.
