WFEO Academy provides free access to members of WFEO to training by Global Experts

The World Federation of Engineering Organizations launched the WFEO Academy training portal on World Engineering Day, on 4 March 2022, with UNESCO and its partners, the International Engineering Alliance (IEA), the International Federation of Engineering Education Societies (IFEES), the Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC) and WFEO members and affiliates.

Education for engineers has been a core objective for the Federation since it was founded in 1968 and of the WFEO Engineering 2030 Plan. The training portal delivers on this objective under the auspices of the Federations’ Committee for Education in Engineering.

The WFEO Academy website provides training and build capacity for accreditation bodies and professional engineering institutions, enabling them to achieve international standards and the requirements of signatory status of the International Engineering Alliance.

WFEO Academy also provides training for engineering educators to develop the curriculum and pedagogies for outcomes based education that are also a key requirement to achieve these international benchmarks. A third component is training for qualified engineers, technologists and technicians for essential skills in areas such as safety, risk, project management, ethics and leadership that are required across all disciplines and are essential for competent and responsible practice.

Education for engineers has been a core objective for the Federation since it was founded in 1968 and of the WFEO Engineering 2030 Plan.

There are currently 30 courses comprising webinars/presentations on the website in different categories. Two new courses are added approximately every month.

The courses are available to individuals that are members of WFEO members, associates and affiliates at no cost. Individuals need to register to access the courses indicating their member organization and will automatically receive a certificate of completion after attending the course and successfully completing a short quiz. Since March 2022, the courses, comprising webinars and presentations, have been successfully accessed by engineers and engineering educators from around the world.

We need your support through sponsorship

The WFEO Academy was made possible through the generous support of our engineering leaders from around the world who were authors of the Second UNESCO Engineering Report, released in March 2021. In the spirit of the recommendations of the Report, to build capacity in engineering education for more engineers with the right skills, almost all authors donated their author fees to WFEO, and these are being used for this project. WFEO thanks each and every one of them, for making this project a reality.

However, we need ongoing financial support to keep the website up to date and to add more courses. The sponsorship brochure is available in this link. It provides the powerful message of how the WFEO Academy addresses the pressing need to train more engineers with the right skills, especially in Asia, Africa and Latin America. We welcome your generous support.
