WFEO President Seng-Chuan Tan Engages in Chongqing’s Engineering Talent Initiatives

Er. Dr. Seng-Chuan Tan, President of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), visited Chongqing on November 14-15, 2025, participating in a series of high-level exchange events that took place during the 2025 Chongqing International Talent Exchange Conference. This visit highlighted Chongqing’s increasingly important role as an international hub for engineering talent and innovation.

On November 14, Er. Dr. Tan delivered a speech at the closing ceremony of 2025 Global Excellent Engineers Competition. In his address, he praised Chongqing’s steadfast commitment in promoting the development of the engineering industry and recognizing the outstanding contestants who have demonstrated excellence and perseverance throughout the competition.

“Chongqing is not only a city of stunning landscape, but a living museum of engineering marvels,” said Er. Dr. Tan.

He also emphasized that the competition, which has attracted nearly 5,000 project teams from 47 countries and regions, aligns closely with WFEO’s mission to “unite global engineering power for shared human development.” Er. Dr. Tan presented awards to the winning teams and encouraged young engineers to continue pushing the boundaries of technology and sustainability.

The following day, Er. Dr. Tan also attended the Chongqing International Talent Exchange Conference. Prior to the conference, he participated as a distinguished guest in a meeting with Yuan Jiajun, Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee.

In his remarks, Er. Tan suggested: “Chongqing can establish a closer partnership with WFEO, focusing on joint research and breakthroughs in key areas such as low-carbon transition, digital engineering, and sustainable urban construction. This will accelerate the application and transformation of innovative achievements, allowing us to jointly contribute more to the global engineering community.”

The two-days visit strengthened WFEO’s support for people-oriented engineering innovation and cross-border collaboration, paving the way for future joint projects and knowledge exchange between the international engineering organizations and Chongqing.
