WFEO-CECB Chair Eng. Dr. Martin Manuhwa met with CAST Leadership and ECBAP IPO

Last 9 and 10 April, Eng. Dr. Martin Manuhwa, Chair of the WFEO Committee on Engineering Capacity Building (WFEO-CECB), met in Beijing with Ms. Luo Hui, Director-General of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) Department of International Cooperation, and Vice President and Co-Secretary-General of the Chinese Society of Engineers (CSE).

The meeting with CAST emphasized the need for collaboration and cooperation with WFEO. South-South as well as North-South collaboration makes the world a better place.

The CAST team was informed that the WFEO-CECB was indeed a global Committee of WFEO and to demonstrate that it has activities in Europe, in the UK and France, the US at the STI forum later in May and in Asia as partners of the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP) and the Pan American Federation of Engineering Societies (UPADI) in the Africa, Asia and the Pacific Accord. The Engineering Capacity Building for Africa Programme (ECBAP) is the WFEO Committee‘s signature project.

The two sides also held in-depth exchanges and reached preliminary consensus on advancing collaboration between the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe (ECZ) and the CSE Secretariat, systematically promoting the ECBAP and supporting the establishment of the ‘Belt and Road’ International Federation of Engineering Organizations. They also explored enhanced cooperation in facilitating engineer exchanges between China-Zimbabwe and China-Africa, organizing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities, and pooling training resources for mutual benefit.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the CSE Secretariat, the preparatory office of the Belt and Road International Federation of Engineering Organizations, and ECBAP International Programme Office (IPO).
Eng. Dr. Martin Manuhwa also met with IPO staff in Tianjin and delivered a lecture to Nankai University students, introducing WFEO and its ECBAP programme.
