On this International Women’s Day 2026, we join the global community in celebrating the achievements, resilience, and transformative contributions of women and girls across all sectors of society. This year’s theme, “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.”, is both a call to action and a reminder of the work that remains.
As engineers, innovators, and leaders, women play a critical role in shaping sustainable solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges from climate change and energy access to infrastructure development and digital transformation. Yet, despite this progress, barriers to full participation and leadership persist.
As the Women in Engineering Committee of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations, we reaffirm our commitment to:
- Advancing equitable opportunities for women and girls in engineering and STEM fields
- Strengthening mentorship and leadership pathways for the next generation
- Promoting inclusive policies and data-driven advocacy across countries and institutions
- Fostering global collaboration to ensure no woman or girl is left behind
We recognize that empowering women in engineering is not only a matter of fairness, it is essential for innovation, economic growth, and sustainable development. Diverse perspectives lead to stronger solutions and more resilient societies.
Today, we celebrate the trailblazers who have paved the way, the leaders who continue to break barriers, and the young girls whose dreams will define our future.
Let us move forward together with purpose and urgency to build a world where every woman and girl has the opportunity, support, and platform to thrive.
Happy International Women’s Day.
