
WFEO Delegation Meeting with the Dubai Mayor
Last 29 January 2026, on the occasion of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) strategic planning retreat held in Dubai, Dr. Seng-Chuan Tan, President of WFEO, conducted a series of high-level engagements aimed at strengthening cooperation with key engineering and academic institutions in the United Arab Emirates.

During his visit, Dr. Tan met with His Excellency Eng. Marwan Ahmed Bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, who shared insights on Dubai’s development trajectory and the critical role of engineers in supporting sustainable urban development. The meeting was facilitated by the Society of Engineers-UAE.

Dr. Tan also held discussions with Eng. Abdulla Yousef Al Ali, President of the Society of Engineers-UAE, exchanging views on the opportunities to strengthen collaboration with the UAE engineering community. The discussions also touched upon the organization of the World Engineers Convention (WEC) in 2027, including perspectives on its relevance and opportunities for engagement.
In addition, Dr. Tan visited Ajman University, one of the top universities in UAE, where he met with Chancellor Professor Karim Seghir. They had the opportunity to explore potential areas of collaboration with WFEO in support of engineering education and research.

These engagements underscore WFEO’s commitment to deepening partnerships with national engineering institutions, municipalities, and universities, and to advancing the role of engineers in sustainable development worldwide.
