DESCRIPTION:\n\nUNESCO will organize the webinar "Large-Scale Renewable Ene
 rgy Deployment for Climate Change Mitigation" that will take place on 10th
  July at 1.00 pm CEST Paris time.\n\nThe registration is available in this
  link.\n\nWFEO Past President Dr. Marlene Kanga will moderate the panel di
 scussion "Sharing best practices and success stories of Large-Scale Renewa
 ble Deployment and Digitalization in Climate change".\n\nClimate change is
  a global challenge that requires urgent action from all sectors of societ
 y\, including the energy sector. Large-scale renewable energy deployment h
 as emerged as a key strategy for mitigating climate change\, by reducing g
 reenhouse gas emissions and increasing energy efficiency.\n\nAchieving cli
 mate goals and ensuring accessible and affordable energy for all requires 
 a comprehensive digital and sustainable transformation of the energy syste
 m. This transformation should include the installation of solar panels on 
 commercial and public buildings\, the deployment of heat pumps\, and the r
 eplacement of fossil fuel-powered cars with zero-emission vehicles. The di
 gitalization of the energy system is also crucial to making this transitio
 n successful and improving our daily lives through smart devices. By inves
 ting in digital technologies\, we can optimize energy consumption\, reduce
  energy poverty\, and prioritize the use of renewables\, to make significa
 nt strides towards a cleaner\, greener future.\n\nThis Webinar aims to exp
 lore the potential role of large-scale renewable energy deployment for cli
 mate change mitigation and to discuss the fundamental science and geophysi
 cs behind these technologies. It will target UNESCO Chairs\, and other exp
 erts\, including scientists\, researchers\, educators\, policymakers\, and
  professionals working in the fields of renewable energy\, digitalization\
 , geophysics and geology. It will also be an opportunity to link the large
  network of UNESCO Chairs and Category 2 Centres working in these fields w
 ith UNESCO programmes and partners\, and promote collaborative efforts in 
 the coming years.\n\nThe objectives are to:\n\n\nIdentify future trends an
 d new opportunities of large-scale renewable energy deployment and digital
 ization in climate change mitigation\;\nExamine the impact and challenges 
 of large-scale renewable energy deployment and digitalization in climate c
 hange mitigation\;\nShare best practices and success stories of large-scal
 e renewable energy deployment and digitalization in climate change mitigat
 ion\;\nFacilitate discussion and collaboration among experts\, especially 
 UNESCO Category 2 Centres and UNESCO Chairs\, in these fields.\n\n&nbsp\;\
