 ize for Excellence in Engineering Construction Ceremony that will be held 
 online on Friday 21 April 2023\, at 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM CEST Paris time /

 ganizations (WFEO) will be proud to announce the laureate of the 2022 edit
 ion of its annual Prize for Excellence in Engineering Construction\, kindl
 y supported by the Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) and named after 
 Hassib J. Sabbagh.\n\nAfter careful assessment by members of the WFEO Awar
 ds Committee\, conducted under its chair’s authority (Dr. Ania Lopez)\, 
 and endorsement by the WFEO Executive Council\, \n\nthe prize was awarded 
 to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA)\, for its completion
  of the reclamation work of the Tuas Port. \n\nThe full presentation is av
 ailable in this page.\n\nThe Jury selected this project in consideration o
 f many remarkable features\, including the excellence of the team of nomin
 ated engineers in solving complex infrastructure technical issues\, the vi
 sion in building this large-scale infrastructure project for productivity 
 enhancements while taking a wise and careful approach to environmental and
  sustainability aspects.\n\nMPA has chosen to generously donate the USD 10
 \,000 prize of its award in favor of WFEO engineering education projects\,
  similarly to past laureates of the Prize. WFEO is grateful for this donat
 ion\, especially as its activities in the field of education has become in
 creasingly important in recent years\, with the development of joint mento
 ring programs with the International Engineering Alliance and UNESCO\, to 
 help national engineering education systems to reach the highest standards
 . \n\nMPA’s kind donation will support WFEO’s joint climate change edu
 cation program in Small Islands Developing States (SIDS)\, in cooperation 
 with UNESCO and the Office for Climate Education (OCE)\, which is currentl
 y conducting schools and educators training sessions on climate change in

 n&nbsp\;\nMaritime and Port Authority of Singapore representatives' short 
 biographies\n\n\nMr. Teo Eng Dih\n\nMr Teo was appointed Chief Executive\,
  Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore from 5 September 2022. Prior to 
 this\, Mr Teo was Deputy Secretary (Policy) in the Ministry of Defence. \n
 Mr Teo had served in various government agencies in the areas of Policy an
 d Planning\, Manpower\, Strategy\, Technology\, Energy\, Climate Change\, 
 Enterprise Services and International Trade. He was Special Assistant to t
 hen-Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean from 2016 to 2018. \n\nHe is a vol
 unteer with SAFRA\, an association looking after the needs of national ser
 vicemen. \n\nHe took up the Trade Development Board Scholarship in 1999 an
 d obtained a Master’s in Chemical Engineering with a Year Abroad (First 
 Class) from Imperial College London. He was awarded the Fulbright Scholars
 hip in 2012 and graduated with a Master in Public Administration from the 
 Kennedy School of Government\, Harvard University. Mr Teo attended the Eis
 enhower Fellowships Global Program in 2022. \n\nFor his contributions to P
 ublic Service\, Mr Teo was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver
 ) in 2021.\n&nbsp\;\n\nCapt. Muhammad Segar Abdullah\n\nCapt M Segar is th
 e Assistant Chief Executive (Operations) of the Maritime and Port Authorit
 y of Singapore (MPA).\n\nHe holds a Master (Foreign-going) Certificate of 
 Competency and a Master of Science (Maritime Administration & Environmenta
 l Protection) from the World Maritime University\, Malmo (Sweden). Prior t
 o his current appointment in MPA\, he was a Port of Singapore Authority (P
 SA) sponsored student and after his sailing career\, he worked with the Po
 rt of Singapore Authority as a Harbour Pilot (1 Jan 90 to 1 Feb 96). He th
 en joined MPA as a Marine Officer and was subsequently promoted as the Por
 t Master\, MPA (Jan 2001 to Jul 2008). Capt Segar was awarded the Public A
 dministration Medal (Silver) (Bar) Pingat Pentadbiran Awam (Perak) (Lintan
 g) at the National Day Awards 2017.\n\nIn his current capacity as the Assi
 stant Chief Executive (Operations)\, Capt Segar oversees operational matte
 rs pertaining to the smooth and safe running of the Port of Singapore\, so
  as to ensure that the world’s busiest port remains safe\, secure and ef
 ficient\, thereby facilitating the development and promotion of Singapore 
 as a hub port and international maritime centre. Capt Segar also oversees 
 the administration of our responsibilities as a Flag State\, Port State an
 d Coastal State\, and the use of technology to enhance our operations.\n&n
 bsp\;\n\nEr. Tham Wai Wah\n\nEr. Tham Wai Wah is the Senior Director and C
 hief Engineer for Engineering & Project Management Division and concurrent
 ly holds the appointment of Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) in the Mari
 time and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).\n\nAs the Senior Director / Ch
 ief Engineer\, Er. Tham leads the overall strategy & development planning\
 , engineering and execution of all construction related projects within MP
 A. He is also the Superintending Officer overseeing the development of the
  Next Generation Tuas Mega Port.\n\nAs the CSO\, Er. Tham spearheaded the 
 initiative to formulate the Singapore Maritime Decarbonisation Blueprint\,
  to drive the reduction of GHG emissions to meet the IMO targets for inter
 national shipping and Singapore’s emission set targets. As part of this 
 framework\, he formulated the adoption strategy of low and zero carbon fue
 ls\, encouraged pilot trials and fostered the development of industry coll
 aborations across the value chain and ecosystem in the maritime sector.\n&
 nbsp\;\n\nEr. Albert Cheng\n\nEr. Albert Cheng is the Director of Project 
 and Construction in MPA. He formerly led the development of Tuas Port Phas
 e 1 project and he moved on to lead the development of Tuas Port Phase 2 p
 roject and other various building and infrastructure works by MPA.\n\nHe i
 s a certified professional engineer with Singapore PE Board since 2002 and
  was involved in various civil engineering and coastal development project
 s across Singapore and in the South-East Asia region.
