DESCRIPTION:\n\nThe 9th annual Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science\, Technol
 ogy and Innovation for the SDGs (STI Forum) will be held from 9 and 10 May
  2024\, with side events from 8 to 10 May\, at the UN Headquarters in New-
 York.\n \nThe theme of the STI Forum 2024 is: “Science\, technology and 
 innovation for reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in time
 s of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable\, resilient an
 d innovative solutions”. \n\nAs in previous years\, the theme of the STI
  Forum will be closely aligned with that of the High-Level Political Forum
  on Sustainable Development (HLPF)\, to be held from Monday\, 8 July\, to 
 Wednesday\, 17 July 2024\, under the auspices of the Economic and Social C
 ouncil (ECOSOC)\, but will have an exclusive focus on the role and contrib
 utions of science\, technology and innovation to sustainable development.\
 n\nWithin the STI Forum\, the Science and Technological Community Major Gr
 oup (STC MG) (co-chaired by WFEO and ISC) will organise the in-person side
  event "Better leveraging Science\, Technology\, Innovation and Engineerin
 g for accelerating progress on the Sustainable Development Goals" on 9 May
  at 1:15 PM at the Trusteeship Chamber.\n\nThe STC MG seeks to maximize th
 e potential of scientific knowledge\, engineering ingenuity and STI soluti
 ons to accelerate SDG implementation. \n\nThis session will explore strate
 gies for better leveraging STI across all levels while harnessing its tran
 sformative potential. This includes the need for closer collaboration betw
 een the scientific\, engineering\, and technological communities and\nall 
 stakeholders including societal actors and policy-makers\, to co-design sc
 ience-based solutions to address context-specific sustainability challenge
 s. The session will also highlight examples of impactful initiatives that 
 can accelerate achievement while enabling synergies and multiple co-benefi
 ts across the different goals under review this year - SDG 1\, 2\, 13\, 16
