Held in conjunction with the WES 2013 are two competitions targeting two different groups who are interested in climate change issues: photo enthusiasts and young engineers.
WES Biennial Photography Competition 2013
Jointly organized with The Photography Society of Singapore (PSS), the Competition themed 'Environmental Sustainability - The Challenges' is open to all photo enthusiasts. Send us your best photos capturing the essence of the environmental challenges facing the world and what is being done to overcome them. Create an impact. Spread the message. Inspire action.

Engineers Canada / World Meteorological Organization / The Institution of Engineers, Singapore Workshop
Jointly organized by the World Federation of Engineering Organizations Committee on Engineering and the Environment, the World Meteorological Organization and the Institution of Engineers, Singapore, this one day workshop will provide infrastructure practitioners, planners, managers and decision-makers with information about and practice with a practical tool and process that systematically assesses the risks of current and future climate on civil infrastructure. It will include a session on the principles, applications and limitations of climate data and climate models for infrastructure risk assessment.

Medal of Engineering Excellence for Distinguished Achievement Service of Humanity
The recipient will be chosen based on his or her noteworthy contributions to the practice, theory, or public status of engineering. Nominees should possess appreciable experience in the profession, international standing as well as significant educational accomplishments.
Medal of Excellence in Engineering Education
The recipient will be chosen based on his or her noteworthy contributions to the improvement of engineering education. Special consideration will be given to outstanding services rendered by educators to engineering educational institutions, and to those involved in the education of engineers.
Hassib J. Sabbagh Engineering Construction Excellence 2013 Award for Green Constructions
The Award recognizes the noteworthy contributions in the field of green constructions by an engineer or team of engineers on the basis of participation in the planning, development or construction of a successful project completed in the two to five year period prior to 31 January 2013.
