WFEO Celebrates International Women's Day 2017
Dr. Marlene Kanga, WFEO President Elect and Eng. Valerie Agberagba, Chair of the Committee on Women in Engineering, recorded a video message to celebrate the International Women’s Day, the 8 March.

Dr. Marlene Kanga states that “empowerment of women engineers is an important objective for the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO)”.

“As we celebrate International Women’s Day, the recognition of the contributions of women engineers is becoming increasingly important”.

She explains that “In our rapidly changing world, those who have skills in the sectors of science, engineering and mathematics will be in great demand and will be essentials in order to face the new forthcoming challenges.

Women’s empowerment in the engineering world has to increase. They still face many barriers, like juggle a family and have a career, which is often a big factor in discouraging women from pursuing a long-time role within engineering.

They need to have courage and patience to step ahead and overcome these challenges. Thankfully, there are female role models to inspire women to learn, share and succeed.”
