The summary report of the Scientific Advisory Board to the Secretary-General of the UN, entitled “The Future of Scientific Advice to the United Nations” is available for download.

The Scientific Advisory Board aims to strengthen the interface between science and policy for sustainable development; it is hosted by UNESCO, a key WFEO partner, and has been created to provide advice to the Secretary-General and to the Executive Heads of United Nations bodies on science, technology and innovation, to improve policy-making on sustainable development, reducing inequality and eradicating extreme poverty.

The board was established in 2014 by Ban Ki Moon, following recommendations from the UN’s High-Level Panel on Global Sustainability.

WFEO is part of these initiatives on behalf of the global engineering profession as an organizing partner for the UN Science & Technology Major Group.

Prof. Dr. Ke Gong, Chair of the WFEO Committee on Engineering for Innovative Technologies (WFEO-CEIT) is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board and has participated in this great collaborative effort.
