Sustainable Cities: Designing Cities and Communities for the Future

Solving the issue of energy scarcity calls for, not only for the supply of clean, reliable and inexpensive energy, but also for the increase of energy efficiency at the stages of generation, transformation, distribution and final consumption of energy. Tackling this issue requires a multidisciplinary approach.

Under the theme of “Designing Cities and Communities for the Future”, the goal of the EfS 2017 Conference is to generate discussion on how to create an energy sustainable future for the people and the planet by promoting the exchange of knowledge, innovative ideas and past experiences between participants from multiple scientific fields.

The Energy for Sustainability Initiative (EfS) gathers faculty and researchers from R&D Units of the University of Coimbra. It manages advanced educational programmes and carries out activities of an interdisciplinary nature focusing on urban systems, industrial production and energy (conventional or based on renewable sources) for buildings and transport, resulting in collaborations between the industry and society in general.

The EfS 2017 Conference is being organized by ITeCons for the Energy for Sustainability Initiative of the University of Coimbra.
